love the idea, but Ld 10 and unbreakable crews is a bit over the top I think. What about a sniper rifle instead ? c'est bien, non ?

I think a sniper rifle is not a bad idea, or some sort of special unit you can only take if he is in the army? maybe some sort of shock troop using a similar backpack flight thingy the dwarfs have in WAR? some manoeuvrability would be nice. Or even the ability to add runes/upgrades to the rare choices?(obviously not DoW)

good idea maybe the option to mount him on some dwarf fighting mashine (like a dwarf drednought)- would be very intesting- e.g high number of streanth and attacks but only movement 4 and large target

Haha, that would be fantastic. I'm rather sure its never going to happen but I'd certainly love it.

An engineer lord must achieve something interesting and worthwhile, making him cause warmachines close by to become unbreakable makes sense (although certainly feels overpowered) but isn't particularly exciting. The only problem is that most outrageous and fun options are going to be exceptionally overpowered themselves.

How about a rule for "Battery Commander":

- Battery rules apply to similar war machines (say, a group of BT, or a group of cannon, but not mixed types) placed within 3" of at least one other war machine in the battery
- he can use his other special Engineer abilities (such as extra crewman or use his BS) to any single war machine in the battery per turn (and can move freely anywhere within the battery)
- can entrencth the whole battery
- can purchase 1-2 extra crewmen for each war machine in the battery
- can upgrade a single Engineer to a Standard Bearer.
- when charged the Battery fights together...rank up all crew into a single unit and they fight as group
- acts as a BSB for war machine crew (can re-roll break tests, as well as the +1 CR)

Maybe not earth shattering, but would add an extra dimension to themed Engineer's Guild forces.

I like the general Idea... but that unbreakable thing for all machines, is a bit too much. I would leave him as Ld9, and give him:

1. Gyro as mount
2. Abbility to join a rare machine and rune it
3. Abbility to choose a reapeter dwarf handgun (like the one Malakai has, I like it more that sniper rifle thingie)

I do like the "expert in engeneering" rule.

Still, I don't thing a lot of people would use him...

cheers!

I like the idea. Gyrocopter mount would be cool. Expert at Engineering is pretty awesome. Sniper Rifle would also be awesome or maybe a crackshot special rule (re-roll misses or something). I agree that unbreakable is to powerful so maybe make it immune to panic or something.
Lots of people mightn't take him much but he could have a pretty cool specialist role. If you played a siege scenario he'd be one of my first choices.
Maybe he could have a rule that lets you take an extra cannon/grudge thrower/bolt thrower which doesn't take up a special slot.
