Some of you around the forum might now I came back to Warhammer after several years of not following the hobby. The advantage to this is when I did come back, I had several models lying around unassembled and unpainted. One of these is a Anvil of Doom kit I picked up many years ago on sale.
Well, the down side to dragging your models around for years across three different states is your bound to lose a couple pieces here and there. From the anvil set, I was completely missing Kragi and the forge. This isn't a huge loss, but I didn't have any arms for Thorek! He was all torso!
So I had to get creative. I had a spare champion from BfSP kit, who conveniently carries a hammer over his head similarly to Thorek. I carefully cut off the hand and glued it to the right arm of the Runelord model, and I had a complete right arm built. The left arm is from the musician in the thunderer/quarreller box set. I just cut off the drum stick to get a closed fist.
Here's the finished product:

I actually (think) I have the anvil guards lying around somewhere. However, they had an awful coat of paint on them and I didn't have any desire to take the time to strip and clean them, when I have other dwarfs lying around! The right side of the frame is a finecast dwarf lord, converted to carry an axe instead of a hammer. Those who took part in the CoS campaign might recognize him as my take on Lord Pureheart. The dwarf on the left is the general from BfSP. I figured a great runelord should have two oathbound thanes as his bodyguards.

Another angle, with a better view of the right hand guard and the hammer. I had a lot of fun with this project. I love improvising, especially when the end result comes together so well! I may even bust this out during a game sometime soon.
