unit filler conversion
Greetings and Gnollengrom fellow Dawi.
I have recently rekindled my decade-and-a-half long love for our short-legged, bearded WFB friends. A Mordheim project turned into a fascination with shopping for dwarfs on ebay, and to fleshing out my old haphazard collection of dwarfs into something that can be fielded as a playable WFB army.
As I have settled comfortably into adult life I have finally found the financial freedom to cherry-pick the models I gazed at endlessly in a variety of citadel publications through the years. I have always loved the ebb and flow of daydreaming about conversions.
Now its time to make those daydreams manifest themselves in the real world. As my Mordheim endeavours will take a front seat, I envision this project as dealing mainly with conversions and model aesthetics for the next 6 months or so. Once my Mordheim painting skills stabilize I will start painting the dwarf throng to about 4-5000 points (and hopefully beyond). The aim is to have a gunline core with some fluffy flavourful auxillery units to back up the theme.
Concepts:
"The expedition to reconquer and re-establish Bugman's Brewery assumed the proportions of a holy war."
Background: Dwarfs from all walks of life flock to Bugman's banner. A master engineer and his associates wow to supply the expedition with field artillery. A Dwarf noble commits his clan to the cause.
Units: Most rare and special slots are to be allocated to artillery. Core units will supply most infantry. Points should be spent primarily on bulking up the gunline aspect of the army. Characters are meant mainly for support and tactical flexibility
Models: Metal models are to be used for the vast majority of the army. Plastic components will be used where appropriate for conversions. War machines will be wheeled as befitting of a mobile dwarf expedition. The Bugman theme will be emphasized by adding beer themed models and accessories to all units.
Enough Prattle. Time for a pic

My first conversion has been at the back of my mind for over a decade. I managed to pick up a few Bugman's cart components and OOP throne bearers on ebay. With the aid of a little greenstuff I managed to make a small "keg bearer" unit filler to accompany Bugman wherever he may go. the only question remains. Should I swap out the hand weapons for tankards?
Cheers, and thanks for reading

maybe swap out one hand for a beer mug, but not both
you want to give the impression that these are drinking warriors, not drunks
