Another update with progress on the sculpt. Beard was a lot of fun, looking forward to the hair, I´m thinking Martin Riggs in Lethal Weapon. Btw, as i´ve looked through a lot of blogs on the brewery the last couple of days I find it way easier to navigate the ones that are threads instead of blogs like this one. It´s a bit of a hassle to click back to the menu and choose the next post instead of just scrolling. Also, since my posts are often minuscule I think a thread makes a bit more sense. What do you think?

Love it! Probably one of the most characterfull Faces I have seen sculpted by a member! Nuff said!

....Well no: I hate you ;P damn I am jealous....

I have to ask again: Who are you? Where did you come from? Came out from nowhere and now he is killing it on every stage ;)

Instant Fan here :)

I would go for a Thread, never quiet understood why you went for the Blog, sadly I have the feeling that many people are overlooking the Blogs (as long as you are not the mighty Snugg Thistlehammer :) ).

Your models would derserve an Thread in the Forge where more people will have a look.

At the same Time I really like the Blogs for their structure (apart from the things you mentioned), I for example tend to spam my own Threads with rubbish :D
Hahaha, awezome! Wow, I´m overwhelmed. :) Lol, I don´t know what happened. But seriously, two years of art school gotta account for something but there is A LOT(!) more to learn. Miniature sculpting and painting is an honest craft! By the way, since we talked about tutorials before, maybe you´ve seen it before but I found a site compiling a lot of web tutorials: http://tutofig.com/ A lot of great stuff on there.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I like some parts of the format too but you´re probably right, blogs are overlooked. Heh, except Thistlehammer of course, (geez, that´s a huge and cool army!)

Cheers!

I'm very flattered but I don't really get that many views/comments compared to a forge thread. It's just that a blog suits my style a little better as I like to (self indulgently) pontificate a bit rather than just post project updates. For someone who has constant small updates such as yourself, maybe a thread would be better? But hey, the blog offers more options too.

In my eyes it really comes down to what your main reason for posting is. Want lots of comments, critiques and advice? A forge thread would be better for this. Are you posting for more personal reasons or simply to catalogue your progress? Then stay where you are! :)

Also - I must admit that even I am ignoring the blogs a little since the feed dissapeared off the main page! :o

But I want both! :D I created the blog to motivate myself to build a complete army but comments and discussion about the hobby is what brought me to the brewery in the first place. I might start a thread at the forge where I focus on the hobby and WIP side of things and keep this blog for tactics, fluff and finished units or something?

Yeah I know, me too, and everyone else it seems, I´ve got something like 20 views per entry lol.

In a perfect world these blogs would get more traffic, but the truth is that even when the blog feed is working (the Brewery seems a little haywire at the moment :S ) they are pretty lightly trodden. Firstly, only the 5 most recent blog posts appear on the feed whereas in the forums I believe the default is 30 per forum. Secondly, when clicking the "view new content" button, you view the new forum content and have to change the option to see the new blog activity, which is the very bottom option on the list. Thirdly, (and this is just my own speculation and not meant to offend anyone) commenting on a blog does not increase your post count and is not percieved as being as social as a forum thread so you don't get 'post count whores' and 'forum personalities' adding the "Looks good, well done!" replies which tend to pad out a forum thread a fair bit.

Or maybe I'm just a grumpy old dwarf.
You are probably right, I too have been thinking along these lines. :) Also, a thread is more of a continuous discussion fueled at intervals by the thread-"blogger". The structure of the blog format interrupts discussion every time a new entry is added.
