dwarfs first army warhammer painting battallion dwarf lord advice help adadrian
hey follow wargamers,
my name is adrian, im 28 i love warhammer and have decided to collect my FAV fantasy team ever since i was a kid, ever since reading the hobbit as a kid or reading and seeing dudgeon and dragons i've always been attracted to the dwarfs, always choosing a dwarf if i could in games i could on the atari st i had when i was a kid, getting gort and mort on shinning force very strong u name it and i was into dwarfs, when i grew up my time was spent into a lot of things like gym, aikido, muay thai
but now im older im realising and coming back to more relaxing things i've always enjoyed .
so anyway into dwarfs, i've never played a game my goal is to collect and pain up a small army (at first) to play a game
and then slowly build up my army to make it more bigger.
now this also gives me somehting to do with my dad as we can do it together so he's got him self a high elf army,
so anyway i went to games workshop having no idea what to buy and he ended up sticking a warhammer army book and a bettallion and a dwarf lord (shield and one handed hammer) and said this is what you need (now i know i needed a rune smith) but oh well i can buy him another time.
after reading the dwarf army book i've decided im pretty much going to make a army to what i like not what i think will win, although of course i will win but im not going to make a army full of great weapon warriors and heaps of organ guns
no im going to have a bit of everything and make a bit of fluff around it
anyway i dont really have many colors just the basics i got in the starter box with a few old ones i found hidden away,
so my first attempt and my first painting is this
i didnt mind it for my first go obviously i dont reall y know how to do any techniques like drybrushing and glazes and high lighting im just doing pretty basic painting so if u guys can recommend me some colors i s hould buy or some techniques i will always listen and try to improve but for now i guess im painting basic
and the next day i finished these
my dad painted the 2nd from the left was good to have him do one for me
and the old miner i found locked away from years ago...haha funny eyes anyway
this is my army so far
i still have a hell of a lot of painting
but untill then i shall try and paint better and whenmoney comes in upgrade and expand on my army
farewell all advice is needed!
i love the dwarfs!

Also as for washes (or how they call they now): I recommend Nuln oil, earthshade and sepia wash.
for fleshcolor I use Bugman's glow, drybrush kindleflame and then wash with Reikland flesh.
a good drybrush for beards (as highlights) is longbeard grey.
Buy for starters any kind of light metal and gold, and kindleflame and some shades. Shades are very important for Dwarves, they told me.
