slayer snow bases
I've been lurking on the forum for a while and thought it about time for me to start making a blog to record my army painting and hopefully keep me motivated to do more!
I even signed up for the Monthly painting competition this month, absolutely gutted I missed out on the unit comp, but I'll keep my eyes peeled for the next one.
For the monthly competition the theme was a 'shooter' and I had a rather nice old model that I had been saving for a while so it seemed a great choice to do. Hopefully it will make a master engineer in my army some time, but I never seem to find the points to take them!
So I've spend the last couple of days hard at work at this model and I am quite please with the results. First time not using metals. (just a touch on the belt buckle) It was looking good but the grass on the base just didn't seem right, so after some top tips from the Bugmans regulars I discovered "bicarbonate of soda snow".

Anyhow more snow was to come, I was thinking about making a nice movement tray for my unit of slayers, and the snowy rocky theme seemed to fit so ta da...

You should notice my converted slayer standard bearer sporting a still pulsing demon.
This is such a heavy model its taken 3 magnets to hold in on the tray. Made from an 80's dragon wing and an old ettin head. Still thinking about whether to add a flag to it.
Some detail on the standard and musician....

Hopefully back soon with some more slayers pics. A great unit filler for them that I have almost finished, just basing up. The rest are base coated ready to start working at..
